Cuisine, between stories and traditions
The AgriRistoro “Il calice & la stella” is a small Modern Osteria, born from the renovation of a historic restaurant in Canepina (VT) active in the late 80s, thanks to the passion of the Arletti Brothers. Felice and Giuliano.
The name of the venue has not been changed. The restoration has revamped the existing distinctive elements such as stone walls, ancient capitals, niches and fountains, enhancing the architect's original project Zammerini, commissioned by Virgilio Fazioli , older brother of Paolo Fazioli, to whom we owe the first Italian grand piano, among the most famous in the world still used today at the Milan scale and in other prestigious theaters and stages around the world.
A museum restaurant, A window on the historic center of Canepina, developed on 3 levels, with 4 small independent rooms and a 1200 cellar where Aperitifs and Wine Tastings are served.
The castle walls
The ancient castle walls cross the room, creating 2 small separate dining rooms, an outside and inside the walls of the ancient Canepina, creating a singular path that crosses the different historical eras from 1200 AD to 1600 with references to the popular tradition of Tuscia and the Cimini Mountains.
The ladder
An internal staircase with a modern design with cantilevered steps fixed to the wall and covered in chestnut wood blend in with the surrounding environment and give access to the 1200 AD cellar, ancient street level of the town (floor -1) and to the upper floor (Piano 1).
The cellar, floor -1
The cellar, which dates back to around 1200 AD, was in the past the ancient street level of the town and houses one of the first public fountains in the town, linked to the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta, the main church of the town whose current beauty is the work of Antonio Cordini da Sangallo known as "the Younger", nephew of Antonio the Elder, who in 1492 restored it as the Canepine people wanted, making it resemble the church of the Madonna della Quercia.
Upper floor
Going up the stairs you enter a former apartment where we find the open kitchen and a small separate mezzanine, made of iron and chestnut wood parquet with with a window overlooking Piazza Garibaldi, the heart of the city with a view of Palazzo Farnese built by Alessandro Farnese, better known as Pope Paul III, for his son Pierluigi, today the seat of the municipal administration and the summer "outdoor" of the Agriristoro.
Internally the mezzanine overlooks the entrance hall of the restaurant, with only 3 tables and can accommodate a maximum of 8 diners. A warm, elegant and welcoming environment designed for anyone who wants to spend a lunch in complete intimacy with their family or groups of friends.
Each room is characterized by particular elements highlighted by the restoration (stone walls, small windows, ancient capitals, niches and fountains) and has a total capacity of approximately 50 people.
Il Calice e la stella, is therefore proposed as an alternative for those looking for an elegant and welcoming place, where to rediscover the knowledge and flavors of Tuscia Viterbese, between history, tradition and innovation.
Anecdotes, memories, legends and stories handed down, told with competence and passion, are intertwined with menus and recipes of local cuisine, rich, traditional or revisited, full of meaning.
This is the place to get to know each other better, to discover all the flavour, knowledge and traditions of Tuscia, a meeting place, a meeting place, a convivial aggregation point
